I made some phone calls re purchasing pre 1933 gold certified coins to keep my funds safe. One man mistakenly thought I had given my OK to a deal when I had not and I had specifically told him I had not given him the go ahead or the contract yet. I told him I needed to check something out and would get back to him in 5-10 min if I wanted his deal. I did not call him back and he went ahead and billed me for it giving it a contract number. I cannot be legally indebted to his company as I see it. Does anyone with legal information have any input on this. I'm kinda upset over this nonsense.

I have a 1905 $20 Gold Certfifcate with Washington in the front. Its in great condition except for a few small spots. I have looked throught google.com, and it shows the note I have, but there all certified. Mine is uncertified, and is in my own plastic holder. I have no idea what the value is at today's market prices. I have tried selling it through various auction sites, and was very unsucessful. If anyone out there know's how much this certificate is worth, and where I can possibly sell or auction it, I will appreciate it. On the front of the note it says............. Twenty Dollars In Gold Coin. Payable to the bearer on Demand. On the right of the note it has a red seal that has Washington DC written in script. Above Washingtons portrait it shows the #20 I gues meaning the denomination of the bill in gold. On the back it shows......... In the middle "Twenty Dollars" with an eagle in the circle. To the left and right it shows 20 on the left, and 20 on the right. On the bottom of the certificate on the back, it shows "Gold Certificate". I would like to know its value as I dont even have a clue what its worth. Thanks

I would like to know what is the best way to buy gold coins or bullion in the U.S. I am not a coin collector; I don't care about that stuff. I want legit, recognized, gold coins that I can purchase from a reputable place with their certificate and KEEP with me - not have a piece of paper saying I own them and they are locked in some vault somewhere. Just as a form of security and piece of mind for me, I guess. I also thought about giving them as gifts to my small nieces and nephews rather than toys etc. once in a while.

Does anyone know what is the best way to go about doing this? I don't really care where the coins are from as long as they are authentic, certified, etc.

It is legal too, right? To buy coins from here or anywhere else? I'm obviously very ignorant about the subject. I had thought about doing this about 4 years ago when the price was like $400 per ounce, now I check and it is like $1000 and I want to kick myself for not buying then.

By the way, I realize that the price of gold is ridiculously high right now, so I probably won't be buying very soon, but I would like to buy when it is reasonable again.

I am just starting to collect gold bullion coins, the coins come in two varieties, either raw or certified, certified coins are a couple buck more expensive. I figured with gold coins, whats the difference right? It says the weight and purity of the gold right on the coin.

It still is thought impossible to complete a set of Carson City dollars in GSA holders since the 1892-CC is still unknown in a GSA holder, the 1893-CC that is known is suspect as to whether it is authentic, and there is only one 1889-CC known.
